The CLCP Magis at 40
April 28 - May 1, 2007

Formulated during the 30th CLCP National Assembly 2007

The CLCP Magis at 40*

In celebration of our 40th year as the Christian Life Community of the Philippines, at our 30th National Assembly, we, the members of the CLCP and of the Philippine Church of the Poor, want to respond and deepen our response to the Lord Jesus Christ’s command to “Love one another as I have loved you.” (Jn 15:12) In union with Mary and like Mary, we wish to respond with the same “yes” to God’s call to nurture a special love for the poor.

We will express this love by building-up the nation through the formation of guides, members, and communities among and with the poor, grounded in and guided by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the General Principles of the CLC. Conscious of the fact that this will only come about to the extent that we exercise Cura Personalis we will make an effort to foster this spirit throughout the National community.

By harnessing the energy and passion of our youth and uniting it with the wisdom and experience of our elders, we will strive to renew and develop our organizational structures, improve our communication, deepen our personal commitments and enhance the effectiveness of the CLCP in carrying out the Magis that Christ has entrusted to us. We do all these, confident of Christ’s promise, “I came that you might have life and have it abundantly.” (Jn 10:10)

---------------
* This Magis statement is derived from discussion leading to the identification of 13 words discerned as God’s call for the CLC in 3 dimensions: Community (“Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn 15:12), Organizational Structures, Communication, Youth Empowerment, & Personal Commitment), Apostolic (Economically & Spiritually Poor, Formation, Nation-Building & Love of Country, & Cura Personalis) and Spiritual (Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Mary, General Principles of the CLC, and Guides Formation), was all in light of the theme of the National Assembly “I came that you might have life and have it abundantly.” (Jn 10:10).

40th Year Monthly Prayer Intentions
October 2007

This intention was written by Umari CLC (Davao)

THEME: The service of God will be our ideal; Jesus Christ our model; the wide world our field of action. For from this moment we will no longer be the solitary pilgrim totally given to meditation and penance, but we will devote all our strength to the “help of the souls,” that is, to helping men to the fulfillment of their end.

In every petition we pray: Lord, we lift all our prayers in your hands.

1. For the religious, lay ministers and those who serve God, that the Lord will grant them the grace of understanding and appreciating deeply their vocation and that they may have the enthusiasm to continually serve the people God has entrusted to them. We pray…

2. For lay workers who work and devoted their life, time and talents in the different church apostolates, that they will have the strength and courage to continue to be of service in the building of God’s kingdom. We pray...

3. For our government leaders, that they will be transparent and honest in their deeds and for every undertaking that they do, they will take into consideration the welfare of the Filipino people so that Justice, Peace, Unity and Prosperity will come into our land. We pray…

4. For us members of the Christian Life Community of the Philippines, that we may constantly say YES to God in His invitation to a way of life to serve others especially to the least of our brothers and sisters, the poor and the underprivileged. We pray…

5. For the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of CLCP, that the Lord will continue to journey with us and that we may be more sensitive to the call of times and respond openly. We pray…

New CLCP Logo
Launched in November 2006

Our new logo symbolizes the circle of community which differentiates the CLC from other organizations.

Our new CLCP logo symbolizes the circle of community which differentiates the CLC from other organizations. Its color expresses its special love for Mary as our model. The shading symbolizes the permanence of the way of life in light and in darkness. The focus of the logo is an empty cross which depicts the Risen Christ and where each member should be the body of Christ to others. At the heart of the Cross is the flame of Ignatian passion, the fire which burns in our hearts - the fire which lights our way in the many crossroads which we face in life. The three elements of Spirituality, Mission, and Community keep the symbol together by way of the nails. The four weeks of the Spiritual Exercises seen through the quadrants envelope and give prominence to the Cross and the flame. Bro. Jason Dy, S.J. designed the new logo to communicate the mission and vision of the CLCP.
