A Date With Ignatius: Encountering God in the Spiritual Exercises

The Christian Life Community Formation Institute (CLCFI) invites you to a half-day recollection with the theme, “Encountering God in the Spiritual Exercises”, to be led by Fr. Ramon Bautista, SJ. He will give points on how one encounters God in prayer, particularly in the Spiritual Exercises. Time for individual prayer shall be given where we hope attendees will encounter God in a special way. The recollection experience shall be concluded with the Celebration of the Eucharist.

It will be on 07 February 2010, Sunday, 8am-12nn at the Leunis Hall, 2/F CLC Building, Ateneo de Manila Loyola Heights Campus.

Tita Chibu Nanagas is in-charge of Accreditation and Formation of CLC Group Guides.

The CLC Formation Institute would like to inform the national community that Chibu Nanagas is in-charge of Accreditation and Formation of CLC Group Guides. Chibu is responsible for the recruitment, selection, accreditation and formation of all CLC group guides. As such, she becomes a member of the Formation Institute Action Team (FIAT) which manages the operations of the institute. Together with the members of the FIAT, Chibu will make sure that the needs of our guides are met in order for them to guide groups more effectively.

Please expect further communications from Chibu regarding systems improvement and assistance in the formation and development of our guides.

With all the members of the FIAT, let us thank Chibu for volunteering to do this job and let us give her the support and cooperation she will surely need in serving the CLCP.

Proposals for Statute Amendments

June 16, 2009: Deadline for submission of Nominations for the Leadership Community

The NA Program Team led by Joy Bautista is now at work to plan the program for the National Assembly.

A StratPlan Team headed by Patrick Lim has also been formed to lead the process of drafting a new CLCP Strategic Plan for adoption by the NA. Inputs to the StratPlan will come from data generated from the Magis @ 40 Regional Encounters accompanied by a discernment process by the Magis Regional Encounter Teams (MagisRET).

Other activities will be held to further involve members at the Local Community and Regional Community levels in the planning process. We look forward to receiving cooperation from everyone as we prepare for the 2009 NA.

Dear Members of Regional Communities (or Regional Core/Coordinating Teams), Peace!

World CLC Day–March 25–is fast approaching! The LC and FI encourage you to make early plans to celebrate this special event in your respective regions.

The theme that has been selected by the World EXCO is:
“Deepening the graces of Fatima to undertake our path to become a Prophetic Community as World CLC.”

In Projects No. 141, November 2008, the following moments are proposed for personal and community prayer, “feeling genuinely in harmony with all Community members on this World CLC Day 2009″:

I. First Moment. The Graces of Fatima 2008
II. Second Moment. Invited to be a Prophetic community.
III. Third Moment. Communal Colloquy

Please refer to the attached copy of Projects 141 for a complete and detailed description of the theme and the points for prayer and communal sharing.

Also, please be reminded to include in your plans for World CLC Day 2009 a special ceremony for members who wish to make a permanent commitment to the CLC way of life. Many have recommended that this ceremony be given more serious thought and attention to emphasize the significance of this event in a CLC member’s life. Some suggestions have been made, for example, to involve their local communities (since they play an important role in preparing members for permanent commitment), or even their family members, in the ceremony, and to consider the use of meaningful symbols and rituals to accompanying the reading of their personal statements. We trust that these suggestions are helpful.

Thank you for your service to the CLCP through your leadership role in the regions. May God bless you, your members and families, always.

Newsflash: New EAs, Website and Retreats

New Regional Ecclesiastical Assistant

We welcome our new Regional EAs: Fr. Mike Pineda SJ, HS Chaplain of Ateneo de Davao University, who has been appointed as Ecclesiastical Assistant(EA) of Davao CLC, and Fr. Willy Samson SJ, College Chaplain of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, who has been appointed as EA of Zamboanga CLC. We join the 7 local communities in Davao and the 3 in Zamboanga in rejoicing and offering thanks to God for this blessing. We also thank our NEA Fr. Tony for his valuable help in addressing the need for EAs for the regional CLCs.
In Cebu, Fr. Ben Sim SJ, our former NEA and now parish priest of Sacred Heart Parish and CLCP Core member, serves as Regional EA. Angkong has been instrumental in the formation of one of the newest emerging communities, the Barkada ni Kristo (see feature in this issue).

The New CLCP Website

CLCP’s new Website is now up and running — thanks to the good work of Paulo Javier “Puloy” Gener, Ralph “Boom-boom” Aleman (both from Cagayan de Oro CLC) and the support of the LC, especially John Gamit. Information is in the process of being updated and more news will be posted in the days ahead, but do check out http://www.clcphilippines.org.

CLC FI’s Ignatian Retreats

An individually directed Ignatian Retreat was conducted by the Formation Institute last December 26-30, the first time such a retreat was scheduled during the Christmas break. A total of 12 retreatants made their way to the Mirador Jesuit Villa in Baguio for their ‘vacation with the Lord.’ Fr. Tony de Castro SJ, Bro. Chris Fajardo SJ and FI’s Aidah Endaya provided retreat direction.
The next retreats will be held during the Holy Week (April 4-11, 2009) in both Trece (with Fr. Rudy Fernandez SJ) and Baguio (with Fr. Tony SJ). Please contact the FI for details and early reservations!
